How To Build Your Network Marketing Business Without Talking About Your Product Or Opportunity?

First of all, I want to tell you that you can apply these principles to any product or company. It’s not specific to skincare, health, and wellness, beauty, etc.

One of my mentors in this industry, Ray Higdon, is saying that most people don’t understand how to promote something without dropping names because ‘they don’t understand marketing as well as they could’. …

He is saying

You don’t have to market that thing which you want to sell, to sell it.”

I am in one of his training groups and he recently shared a very personal story:

A couple of years ago, he and his wife started investing pretty heavily in life insurance. They meet a lot of people and they were often asked about how they invest their money. Because of that Ray got his insurance license, and when he was asked that question, he just sends the information of the person asking about it to his insurance guy and he was getting some kind of commission. So basically, he got his license but didn’t really promote it himself. But by just referring those people to his insurance broker, he made over $100 grand in income simply from referring people. But he never became “that insurance guy.” People really don’t know that he had his license until he shared that with them…..

So, how did he get people asking him questions about his money and how was he able to make money from those referrals?

The answer is pretty simple, although it did not happen overnight.

He Positioned Himself As An Authority!

This is one of the more powerful and really important things for you to understand. He positioned himself as an authority. People knew and liked him and also trusted him. You need to do the same thing in your situation (not get the insurance license) but become that person that people know, like and trust.

You need to become that person to be able to build any kind of following. You need to provide value to the marketplace that attracts people to you.

When people know, like, and trust you, you can easily create conversations.

Conversations will lead to the thing that you want to sell, offer, or get people involved in.

So what companies are you with? I am in the beauty and health and wellness industries, among some.

I joined these industries because as I get older I started getting more concerned about my look but also about maintaining a healthy lifestyle. I really didn’t know anything about network marketing when I started….

My first company didn’t really provide many instructions besides “share” everything with everybody…but somehow I knew that wasn’t right because those I was sharing it with weren’t really interested.

So…..why didn’t work? Can you really lead with your business? I think there are situations when you can and when you can’t. After those experiences from when I first started, I would say no, you can’t!!!!

But after I came across Ray Higdon, he said that you actually can.

So I decided to listen to what he has to say, and if you would hear him talk, you will too, because he knows what he is talking about.

So instead of buy my shit from myshittycompany.com I used his advice and I started sharing health and wellness tips, beauty routines and why it was important to use a certain product or order of products, did some live videos, create a couple of blogs where I talk about the benefits of the products and the problems they solve.

Now, I also learned from Ray that at the end of any type of content I put out to use a call to action….. If you don’t know what a call to action is…..it is basically, something that you instruct your audience to do after they consumed your content.

You can say something like:

“Hey, if you want to take advantage of the benefits I just shared with you and maybe even you would like to make some money while you do that, feel free to reach out to me.”

This way you don’t really sound salesy! You don’t come across as that shark that is only interested in making money off you. Your message is not about making money, but about improving your life, getting healthier, eliminating the stress, or whatever discomfort your audience has in their lives and your product is solving.

The key in network marketing is to not appear that you are selling. Instead focus on conversations that will allow you to get to know your audience, their pains, and problems, and in return allows them to get to know you, trust you, see you as an authority in whatever you are talking about, and the person they’ll come to when they are ready to solve their problems.

So focus on the conversation aspect instead of conversion into a customer or a business partner. Talk about something you both relate and have in common.
